Popular tradition holds that fasting on this auspicious occasion expresses devotion to Lord Rama and purifies the body, mind, and soul. Usually, followers fast from sunrise till midnight. Fruits and sweets are typically consumed to break the fast.
It’s traditional to rise early on Ram Navami, wash oneself, and put on new clothes in order to stay pure. Fasting during the festival entails more than just giving up eating; it also entails living simply and cheaply. It is strictly forbidden to eat non-vegetarian food during the Ram Navami fast.
Ram Navami Puja
The celebration of virtue, righteousness, spiritual rejuvenation, solidarity, and brotherhood—all of which foster peace and harmony—is symbolized by specific prayers, bhajans, or devotional songs, and other rituals.
Once the worship space has been thoroughly cleaned, one should make a fasting vow and start worshiping Lord Rama with the required objects. Installing idols of Lord Hanuman, Mother Sita, Brother Lakshman, and Rama is the first step in a sixteen-step puja that also includes offerings of roli, sandalwood, incense, flowers, garlands, and perfumes.
Lotus blossoms and tulsi leaves are necessary for Lord Rama’s devotion. Devotees have the option to recite the Ramcharitmanas, Ramayana, and Ramraksha Stotra throughout the puja. The aarti of Hanuman Ji, Mother Sita, and Lord Rama culminates the puja, and everyone in attendance receives prasad.
The sun mark, or “Surya Tilak,” measuring around 58 mm in diameter, was created on Ram Lalla’s forehead in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya at precisely 12:01 pm in the afternoon. On January 22, the temple opened under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was the first Ram Navami after the idol of Ram Lalla was dedicated.
