iOS 18

The newest iteration of the iPhone’s operating system, iOS 18, has been unveiled by Apple. An outline of the new features in the next version may be found here.

Apple has stated that iOS 18 will be made available to iPhone Xs and later devices this autumn as a free software update. Numerous new features and improvements are included, including personalization options, satellite message sending, ChatGPT and other AI functions, and what the firm refers to as the largest makeover of the Photos app to date.
Features of Customization

Users of iPhones running iOS 18 can now place widgets and apps on the home screen in any available location, including directly above the dock. You may also apply dark or tinted effects to app icons and widgets to give them a fresh look and increase their size.
The Control Center has been revamped to offer easy swiping between your most frequently used controls, including media playback, home controls, and connectivity. It is now possible for users to add controls to the Control Center from compatible third-party apps.
You may now choose from alternatives in the control gallery or remove the controls completely by using the new control switcher located at the bottom of the lock screen.

The redesigned Photos app in iOS 18 offers a streamlined, single view with the well-known grid, and new collections facilitate theme browsing. You may also pin collections to maintain quick access to your favorites.
A brand-new carousel view features moments that are updated every day, exhibiting cherished individuals, animals, locations, and more. The Photos app shows moments while you browse, bringing libraries to life with autoplaying content.
Features of Messages

All-new text effects will be available in iMessage, enhancing every letter, word, phrase, or emoji with animations. Additionally, users can add formatting options like strikethrough, bold, underlining, and italics.
For sending messages to contacts who do not own Apple devices, the company says that the Messages app now supports the RCS (Rich Communication Services) protocol, offering superior media and more dependable group messaging in comparison to SMS and MMS.
In situations where cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity are not accessible, iOS 18 brings satellite messaging. Sending and receiving texts, emoticons, and tapbacks on iMessage and SMS is made possible by satellite messaging, which instantly connects users to the closest satellite from the Messages app. The SMS service is subject to your wireless carrier’s policies, and there may be fees associated with it.

Features of Mail

The integrated Mail app will provide users more options for inbox management. By using on-device classification, incoming emails are sorted into four groups: “Updates” for news and social media alerts, “Transactions” for confirmations and receipts, “Primary” for personal and urgent emails, and “Promotions” for commercial emails and coupons.
Users may quickly examine the most significant emails at any given time by using a new digest view that compiles pertinent communications from the same company.
Features of Safari

With iOS 18, the Safari web browser can use artificial intelligence (AI) to display relevant information about a webpage. For example, it can show you an article’s text summary or allow you to listen to an artist’s audio straight from an article about a song or album.
With the overhaul of its reader, Safari now offers other methods to view articles, including as tables of contents and summaries for lengthy works.
App Password

The new Password app, which is part of iOS 18, is reportedly based on Keychain, which was first released more than 25 years ago, according to Apple. A centralized location for passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes is offered with the new Password app.
Users can also receive notifications from the app regarding typical security flaws, like easily guessed or reused passwords, as well as passwords that have been linked to known data breaches.
Features of Privacy

Users now have a new method to protect private information, like app notifications and content, from unintentional public viewing with locked and hidden apps. Now, users may move an app to a locked, hidden apps folder and lock it for even more privacy. When an application is locked or hidden, its contents—such as emails or messages—are concealed from the system’s search function, notifications, and other areas.
You can choose to share an app with a limited group of contacts with iOS 18. Furthermore, developers can now couple third-party accessories with the iPhone while maintaining device privacy and preventing the app from seeing every other device on the user’s network.
Apple AI: Upcoming AI Functionalities

The centerpiece of the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference keynote, “Apple Intelligence,” promises a range of new AI-enabled capabilities. You may revise, review, and summarize content “almost anywhere” on your iPhone using the new writing tools included in iOS 18.
